2013 Christmas Nail Art!!

Merry (late) Christmas everyone!! Hope you had a wonderful holiday with family, friends and good food!! I ate way too much during these past 2 days, but it was wonderful and I loved every second of it. Christmas is one of my favourite times, and of course, my nails had to join in on the fun.

Inverted French Nail with Zoya's Dream

Like I promised last time, today's post is all about the polish that is currently sweeping me off my feet and carrying me away into the sunset; Dream by Zoya.

"Zoya Nail Polish in Dream (part of the Zenith Collection) can best be described
as a full-coverage, deep space blue with holographic glitter." - Zoya Website

Red & Blue: A Merry Christmas to You!

We won't talk about how long it's been since I've posted - I'll sum it up with these 2 things: Finals and Broken Nails. Which, united, just make for sad Lili and not nearly enough time for playing with nail polish. Currently though, I'm at my Parent's house for the Holidays, so I try to sneak in some time here and there. Having places to go makes it an extra incentive to have sparkly nails!

So we won't talk about my neglect for this blog, but we can talk about how in love I am with Zoya's Dream! I'll end up doing a nail art just with it, but I couldn't resist in adding it as a small accent to my current nails.

Gold & Black Striping Tape: Diamond Pattern

It's time for striping tape nail art! I don't usually use striping tape, I love the way it looks, I just can't be bothered to spend so much time doing it. But every once in a while I see something that catches my eyes and I have to try it myself!

Red & White Snowflakes!!

Living on Residence allows me to always have some fun and interesting program going on, this weekend it was the Winter Craft Fair. So, with that in mind, I knew I had to do something related.

Hunger Games: Catching Fire!!

May the odds....Be EVER in your favour!!

Today is the day I've been waiting for since September when I first bought my movie ticket. Yes, that's exactly how obsessed I am with this series, and tonight I'm going to see the 'midnight' premier of Catching Fire. Of course I couldn't let this moment pass without some commemorative nail art!

Matte and Studs Time!!

My nails are depressingly short, because that's what happens when you break one nail and therefore you have to cut the other ones. And that makes me sad. Long story short, I've been wanting to do this for a while now.

Swirl Patterns: Black, Silver & Gold

Hello everyone!

Today's nails are inspired by a theatre show that I've been working on for the past few weeks. It's been taking over my life, ergo why I sadly have less time for nails. But it does serve as good inspiration!

Red & Black Silver Chain!!

So it's been a while and not only have my updates been lacking, but also my nails. Kinda. They've been sprouting the same old red lately, while it's a nice red it's still just red. But I got some cool nail mail lately so I decided to play with them.

Extreme Blue Edition: Essie Bum Blu & Water You Waiting For!!

So I'm slowly getting into the whole doing nail designs again. Start of the semester means tough choices like doing my nails or sleeping. Student life, yo!

But here's one I came up with that's fairly easy to do and I'm quite proud of it, actually.

It's Stamping Time!!

"Guess who's back?? BACK AGAIN?? Polishing it Up is back, TELL A FRIEND."

On the contrary to popular beliefs, no, I am not dead! And have not forgotten about this poor little blog. I have, instead, been working at a Summer Camp for most of the Summer and because of that have had little to no time to breathe, let alone to dedicate to doing nails.

In fact, I've survived these past months with all of 3 (count them, three) different polishes.

I can't start to say how hard and frustrating it is to only have 3 colours to work with, especially when you want to do a bunch of creative stuff but don't have any of your gear. First world problems of a nail fanatic, haha. I did take some pics of what I came up with, maybe I'll do a post about that eventually.

But, that aside, on to today's nail art!!

China Glaze Cranberry: Sailor Stark Edition!!

Hey everyone! I know it's been a while since I've been here, truth is that I hit a creativity stump in regards to what to do with my nails. I just couldn't seem to bring myself to do anything more than just pick a colour to put on.

Luckily, that changed due to a few things;
a) I got my first Liquid Sand/Pixie Dust polishes which I'm very excited about!!
b) I saw discovered Polished Elegance and this amazing post and I knew I had to try it myself.

So without further ado, I give you Sailor Stark!!

Rainbow Rhinestones!!

This is one of the simplest nail art designs I've ever done and the result is super pretty! I can't stop staring at my nails and all the colours on it, you gotta love how you can easily spice up a manicure simply by adding some rhinestones!

Ciaté's Chalkboard Manicure Launch

Hey guys, I know it's been a while. My family and I  just got back from a road-trip to Prince Edward Island! I have a thing for Anne of Green Gables, and so for Mother's Day we figured that would be the perfect place to go spend a long weekend!

But now I'm back and I can't wait to post some cool nail art designs, but first I was wondering if anyone knew anything about Ciaté's Chalkboard Manicure kit that they're supposed to be releasing next month or so?

One of my friends pointed it out to me and I thought it was a really awesome concept! I've been reading some stuff about it, and from what I gathered here's what's it all about.

- It comes with a Black Matte base, a Matte top coat, and 4 "chalk like" pens;
white, pink, blue and yellow. (As pictured above).

 - The concept is that you paint your nails with the black polish,
then wait until it's completely dry, after that, you can paint away with the pens!

- But here's the fun part, if you happen to mess up, just dunk them in water
and the pens fade away - like chalk!

- If you like the designs, then use the top coat to seal it all in!

You can buy it from Sephora.com here for $25.00.

As for consistency  I've heard that it chips quite easily, sometimes not even lasting more than 24hrs. But it's very user friendly, despite the pen tips being slightly thick.

Now, it looks like a really awesome concept, but then again, do I really want to spend $25 on something for a look that I could easily achieve myself with other means? Maybe if I could try it out first.

Totally sold on the concept, not so much for the price. What about you guys? Thoughts? Ideas? Places where I could possibly get this cheaper? ;)

Splatter Nails!!

Today's Nail art is inspired by an awesome design and tutorial I saw on Nails by Kayla Shevonne's blog. When I saw it I knew I just had to do it, not only is it perfect for Summer, but it's also a really good  way to use some of Zoya's Cutie Collection polishes.

Without further ado; Splatter Nails!!

Today I have a treat for you guys, when I was out on my Top Coat adventure, my usual first stop is Wal-Mart. They have amazing polishes for even more amazing prices. You can imagine my excitement when I saw that they had new stuff!!

One of them being the Hard Candy polish collection!! So I'm going to talk a bit about Sparked Up from their Glitteratzi collection, part of their new line for Wal-Mart.

Return of the Nails!!

Alright, so that's a really lame title, but it's currently way part my bedtime and I could care less because I finally have enough time to come here again! Yes, no more cobwebs and lack of attention my poor little nail blog, I'M BACK, BABY!!

Long story short; Real-life got really, really stupidly, insanely busy. I was doing an internship, I moved back home (from Vancouver to Montreal) for the Summer and now I have time to dedicate myself heart and nails to this blog again. And not only to updating, but to actually taking care of my nails.

I warn you now, the following picture might be a bit...gruesome, but there's a happy ending - hopefully!

Studded 80's Tetris Neon Nails!!

Hey folks!

So last night I went to an 80's themed party my University was throwing. It was super fun to see everyone dressed up and to get to dance to some classic stuff! Of couse, knowing that this was coming up, I figured it would be the perfect opportunity to finally give this nail art a try!

Saint Paddy Day's Flocking Nails!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!!

Okay, okay, I know I'm a little late on posting this, but I was super busy on the actual day and after...Well, let's just say it was a really good St. Paddy's day. ;)

But anyways, I wanted to share with you guys what I did for my nails. I've recently gotten a pack of 12 different colours of flocking powder and I've been trying really hard to come up with creative ways to use them!

Sally Hansen's Ruby Do: Stud Style

I'm baaaaaaaack!!! That's right folks, after a month (Oh God, it's been so long, I'm such a bad person!) I'm finally back to updating my dear blog. On the contrary of what you thought, I didn't forget or abandon this, the truth is real life got very much in the way! I'm a theatre student, and I've spent the last month working as a Stage Manager for a Dance Show. It consumed 150% of my life!!

But, now I'm back and I'm full of fun ideas that I can share with you guys again. There's some really interesting things happening in the nail world and nothing like spending a month doing artsy things to bring out the more creative side! Now enough talk, have some nails!

Matte French Nail!!

Hey everyone, today's post is inspired by my friend Kyla who texted asking where was the best place to find Matte polishes in Canada. You can imagine her surprise when I told her that she didn't have to look further than Wal-Mart to make every polish Matte!

Punk Rock Princess Style!!

Hello everyone, so lately my creativity has been very simple. I have a bunch of more elaborate designs that I want to try out, just not enough time! But I think that's a good thing, because it makes me think about how to make simple, yet elaborate looks instead!

Go-to Girly Look: Risqué Pedra Granada

So today's nail design is really simple. I wanted to show you guys what I consider my 'go-to girly design'. And I call it that because every time I talk to my Mother and she sees my nails in 1423 colours she'll always ask why I just don't paint them pink. LOL.

I also wanted to start showing off some of Risqué's polish collection. For those who don't know, Risqué is a Brazilian polish brand, they don't have wild colours, a lot of reds, but this is the polishes I grew up with and they're still some of the most amazing ones I've had.

Running in Blue Bells Starboard

Hey guys, I know, I know, the title makes no sense - yet! But it will once you keep reading on.

Today's post is all about the beautiful polishes that my darling friend Mandi got for me for Christmas! She knows me so well! She also got me a whole bunch of other polishes that I've yet to swatch, but that's another post!

Splash of Flower, Fleck of Gold!!

So I have this really bad habit of thinking that the best time to play nails is around 10pm at night. It's usually when I'm showered and in PJs and just lounging around my house and not really in the mood to go to bed yet, but not in the mood to study either. I pick out a TV show episode to watch and I start painting.

Perfectly logical if the manicure you're planning on doing takes 30mins - 1hr. For some unknown reason to me, every time I start doing something at 10pm I will most likely find myself only posting it at 2am. Which is the case now. I get distracted by my TV show, I don't like the nail and do it 5 times over and those are also the days where I don't really know if I like the final result or not.

That's the case with today's design;

Glow in the Dark Stamping Time!!

Hey guys! So it's been a while, I'm stilly getting in the hang of classes starting, job picking up again and having time to play nails. But the good thing is that since I'm back home, I've gotten a lot of real cool nail mail, and today I'm going to show you one of them!

Henna Designs: Nail Style!!

Hey everyone, I'm back at University and this somehow leads to my nail imagination going full swing, so I have a fun new manicure for you guys today. Lately I've been on this really big Henna kick, every once in a while I get a new hobby and seems like Henna is my latest obsession.

I got a kit for Christmas and have been playing around with some design ideas for my hands when it occurred to me that, "Hey, you know what would look awesome with some Henna designs? Nails!"
